About Us

Mission:

Placing our faith wholly in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, believing in the teachings and practices of the Missionary Baptist Church and in those great distinctive principles for which it has stood; we, therefore, banded together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ.

We are peculiar people working Christians to reclaim our heritage as a royal priesthood, as unapologetic followers of the Way of life in Christ.

our History

The Central Baptist Association of the State of Pennsylvania was organized on December 11, 1917, at the St. Paul's Baptist Church in Harrisburg, by its pastor, the Rev. Dr. E. Luther Cunningham. St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1891 with 33 worshipers, which eventually included the parent church's own pastor, the Rev. George W. Deskins, began holding meetings in the home of Thomas and Henrietta Watson at 436 South Cameron Street.

The first Convention was held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Williamsport, Pa., on May 15, 1918. It is believed that Rev. James A. Allen was the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church during this time. In this session, much was done to establish the young organization.

On September 12, 1922, this organization was incorporated by the State of Pennsylvania as the Central Baptist Association of the State of Pennsylvania. This organization "shall be composed of Regular Baptist Ministers and Messengers from Regular Baptist Churches."

The Association meets annually in the month of May with one of the member churches serving as host, as directed in Article 3 of the original Constitution. Over the years, the Association has worked hard at fulfilling its original objectives.
